Nvidia Expands AI Infrastructure in the UK with Major GPU Deployment
Nvidia has unveiled plans to deploy tens of thousands of AI GPUs across the UK, signaling a strategic investment in the nation's growing artificial intelligence ecosystem. The initiative aligns with the UK's ambition to bolster its position in AI development and infrastructure.
The tech giant will partner with Microsoft, CoreWeave, Nscale, and OpenAI to establish Stargate UK data centers. A key component includes a cutting-edge supercomputer in Loughton, equipped with 24,000 Nvidia Grace Blackwell Ultra chips to power Microsoft's Azure platform.
CEO Jensen Huang framed the MOVE as part of Nvidia's 'sovereign AI' vision, emphasizing tailored AI solutions for national needs. Similar projects were previously launched in France and the UAE. Huang noted the UK's progress in building infrastructure for an 'AI-driven industrial revolution.'
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella reaffirmed his company's commitment to advancing UK-based AI capabilities through this collaboration.
